NSS forms a primary source for conducting activities for social welfare and community orientation. This programme has been conducted in the college since its inception and the students are motivated to actively participate in this extension activity, thus fulfilling their responsibility towards society. A separate room has been provided for NSS unit, and the Programme Officer, appointed from the staff members, organizes various events as a part of this programme.

The project mainly includes training programmes covering areas like visits to nearby villages, and institutions, social work, environmental awareness, cleaning programmes, AIDS awareness, medical camps, participation in drives and rallies, as well as the conducting different competitions like painting, poster-making, etc, related to social concerns and issues. Seminars, lectures and workshops are organized by invited experts, medical practitioners and other dignitaries.

Blood Donation Camps are organized at regular intervals of time. Students readily volunteer to donate blood for a selfless noble cause. Once in 2008-2009, a record number of ninety-seven students came forward to donate blood, which was much more than expected. The members of the Blood Bank ran short of supplies which had to be brought later on.
An important and regular activity of the NSS unit is the visit to the Samarpan Muk-Badhir Shala (the school for the deaf and dumb) as well as the school for the blind, both of which are located in Gandhinagar itself. The students plan and carry out various activities, training programmes and games for those students. They also organize picnics and sports competitions for the deaf and dumb and the blind children. The enthusiasm witnessed in the students of these schools stands witness to the efforts undertaken by the students of the college.
The college has witnessed an upsurge of activities among the students of the college under the activities of the Shakti Samarthya Centre and the NSS unit in particular, during times of natural calamities like floods, cyclones, earthquake and tsunami. A team comprising of students as well as members of the staff have visited the sites of devastation and provided their services in rehabilitation work. Staff members as well as the students undertake fund-raising activities as well as prepare kits to be distributed among the people affected by such natural calamities.
The most popular activity of the NSS programme which witnesses a huge participation by students is the Community Exchange Programme organized every year for ten days during the Deepawali Vacation, in the form of camps. One village is adopted for activities to be carried out by the students. Students generally reside at the primary school located in the village, and closely observe and survey the social and economic conditions of the people in that village. Here are organized activities like cleaning programme, adult-education, AIDS awareness, medical check-up, blood donation camp. Activities are planned for the students from 5.00 a.m. to 11.30. p.m., which include visiting the villagers, cleaning the village, lectures in the afternoon, games in the evening as well as a campfire at night. They also go for star gazing. The students also organize and present cultural programmes in the evening. Various competitions like one-minute advertisement making, group song, elocution, rangoli, drawing, dance, treasure hunt, etc, are organized during the camp.
  • Cleaning the village
  • Educating the adults of the village
  • Spreading awareness about health and hygiene
  • Collecting data about literacy, health, sanitation etc.
  • Lectures, demonstration, street-plays etc to spread awareness

Volunteers who actively participate in the various activities in the programmes are felicitated by giving away awards like “Best NSS Student”, “Best Attendance”, “Best Performance”, “Best Leader”, “Best Administrator” and “Best Co-ordinator” by the college.
